University of Connecticut Assistive Technology Oral History Project

Mark Felling

October 20, 2010

Mark Felling is an innovative engineer/inventor.  As with all the AT leaders, I enjoyed our interaction. He had had what I would call a tragic accident, but in spite of that he has built a very strong business creating devices for individuals with disabilities, sold all over the world.

It isn't in the interview, but I first found Mark in a video somewhere on the internet. It  took place in a bar in Mexico showing two men in wheelchairs boxing with the Wii using devices Mark had invented. It convinced me that I needed to find this man, owner of Gimp Gear. Fortunately, Mark lives a few miles northeast of the CTG Conference hotel.

You should view his snippets and if you want to learn more, please download the complete transcript of his interview. You won't be disappointed.

Snippet 1: "Tell us how you entered the field of disabilities."

Snippet 2: "Tell us about your voice control system."

"Have you done some work with video games?"
