University of Connecticut Assistive Technology Oral History Project

Welcome to the Assistive Technology Oral History Project

The Assistive Technology Oral History Project is an archive of pioneers in the field of assistive technology (technology for individuals with disabilities). It includes the histories of assistive technology (AT) specialists including occupational therapists, physical therapists, experts in blind and low vision, special educators, audiologists, rehabilitation engineers, software and AT device inventors, and more.

If you select "Podcasts" on the navigation bar at the top of the page you'll see photos of the 19 AT pioneers that we interviewed beginning in October of 2007. When you select a pioneer you can listen to 1, 2, or 3 audio snippets. If you want more information, you can download the transcript of the entire interview.

Early in 2009 we decided that switching to video interviews would enhance the project and so we've added 34 video interviews. If you select "Videos" you'll be able to choose a pioneer and view 1, 2, or 3 video snippets, and again, you can download the transcript of the entire interview. Director's Notes for more information on the project.

Thanks for visiting the site, and we welcome your feedback.

The Assistive Technology Oral History (ATOH) project wishes to acknowledge the generous contributions of its supporters, including our preeminent sponsor Yahoo!, plus SETP, and the AAC Institute, as well as our in-kind donor, ATIA. Without the generous support of these organizations, Dr. Rucker's work would not be possible. We hope that you will consider contributing to ensure that this project continues.
